VIDEO: CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE 2011

Sports cars, diamonds, and a lot of Veuve Clicquot.

On Friday evening, I attended the annual Concours D’Elegance party at the gorgeous Hurlingham Club. Armed with my trusty little flip camera, I was able to capture the best parts of the evening for all of you Notebook readers!

The three-day event showcases everything lavish and luxurious; designer clothing, the very sparkliest of jewelry, watches, helicopters, and of course, cars. The dress code read “elegant” which meant everything from black-tie to chic denim. For the ladies, Herve Leger bandage dresses and Chanel handbags were the popular choice.

The evening session began with all of the winning automobiles being paraded around the outside of the Hurlingham atrium before the ‘Best in Show’ was announced: Jaguar XK 140. Onlookers cheered and raised their glasses to toast the most exquisite selection of cars I have ever seen.

Following the car parade, we walked the grounds a bit to preview some more of the opulence on show and then Husband and I sat down to share a plate of BBQ. Not just any old barbie fodder at Concours though: we opted for some delicious scallops and Argentinean steak.

A girlfriend and I later spotted Hugo Taylor and Spencer Matthews from Made in Chelsea. The chaps were there with a gaggle of girls celebrating a friend’s birthday. I chatted with the Hugo and Spencer a bit in the VIP section and told them I was a big fan of their show, which I am, no matter how dire the plotlines!

And then the dancing began! The inside of Hurlingham was transformed into a sleek nightclub. DJ Seb Fontaine and his crew were on hand and we danced the night away to the latest and greatest club anthems.

But even this lady has a limit and perhaps a few too many bubbles later we loaded our tired feet into a cab. A marvelous evening was had by all at Concours, and I definitely recommend purchasing your tickets early next summer if you didn’t get a chance to go this year.
